A little background
Kevin Manning AKA DJ Consuelo, has played every significant live and club venue in San Francisco and currently performs 200+ shows a year. He has established DJ Consuelo as a Bay-Area-wide phenomenon through 25 years of consistently producing music under the name; and is now a fixture in one of the top DJ cities in the world. Corporate and Private clients include: Apple, Bank of America, City of San Francisco, EA Sports, Google, Hartmann Studios, Onlive, Oracle, San Francisco Symphonix, Sephora, The NFL and Super Bowl 50, The Black and White Ball, The Gap, The Getty's, and The Susan G Komen Foundation.
Kevin began working in Event Promotion in the early 1990's when he actively participated in the eruption of the Bay Area's most significant dance movements and the successful development of the now well-known musical progressions San Francisco experienced then, which gained local, then national and finally international popularity: Live music/Rave/Rare Groove and Acid Jazz/The Classic Hip Hop Era/House Music/Lounge and Electronic Music/The Bay Area Jazz scene.
In SF, DJ Consuelo is currently running one the most influential New Electronic Music nights of the last decade and is programming music for the Redwood Room in the Clift Hotel, consistently one of the the top ten grossing bars in the United States. Kevin continues to be a successful part of the programming strategy for a who's-who of venues in San Francisco, including The Battery, Harlot, The Clift Hotel and The St.Regis. Kevin was a key part of the success of many well-known venues and acts, and helped produce the musical style of many venue now considered SF standards. He promoted memorable events at: The Fillmore, Bimbo's, Harlot, The Roosevelt Hotel LA, The Clift Hotel, The Justice League, The Elbo Room, The DNA Lounge, The Showplace Design Center and many more. As a performer, Kevin as DJ Consuelo has opened for Aerosmith - in front of thousands - and warmed it up for national acts as diverse as: Earth Wind and Fire, Jay Leno, Sheryl Crow and Jewel. As a producer, Kevin has put together literally hundreds of one-off, weekly, monthly and annual gigs for dozens of years - in SF, NY, LA, Tokyo, Paris. Mexico - but he is also well-known as a local in the Mission for having booked Ben Harper for his first ever Spoken Word performance, at The Mission Cultural Center, in 1996. It is no exaggeration to say that Kevin's specific methods in the 90's began what is now a common phenomenon: DJ'd music in bars, storefronts, boutique shops, salons and galleries. Best known of these, in the early 90's, was the music and cultural programming in the Mission District bars, Dalva and the Elbo Room and Kevin's long-running stand at Behind the Post Office, a boutique in the Upper Haight - the 1st store to successfully utilize emerging DJ culture in-store as a taste making and promotion tool. Kevin was, at that time, the first DJ to partner with artists at 111 Minna, soundtracking art show openings in ways that hadn't been pursued in SF on that scale prior. Kevin has also been on the decks at opening parties and galas for top tier salons like Cowboys and Angels, Di Pietro Todd and Hairplay.
